Statement Regarding Misleading Branding and Spending by “Democratic Woodinville”

KING COUNTY DEMOCRATS CONDEMNS DEMOCRATIC WOODINVILLE’S ATTEMPT AT BLUE-WASHING

Seattle, WA— In the wake of an election flooded with dis- and misinformation, the King County Democrats are extremely disappointed to see Jeff Lyons’ one-man PAC, Democratic Woodinville, choosing to use branding associated with the Democratic Party without approval.

This PAC is the work of one person, Jeff Lyons, and the Democratic Party believes its use of the term “Democratic”, the blue color scheme, and their website’s language, is an attempt at “blue-washing” in order to confuse the voters of Woodinville. Worse: according to public records, this PAC has already spent well over $70,000 to advertise the interests of its owner.

Democratic Woodinville does not represent the Democratic Party. We encourage all voters to educate themselves on the issues facing their communities, as well as the interests of the organizations speaking about those issues. Transparency in governance is essential to fair and equitable representation, and King County Democrats condemns this attempt to mislead and misdirect.
